Rica wondered if she could create something like a small manga sculpture, inspired by her experience with the public art project El Barrio Comes All Colors, Shapes and Sizes, which she created in 2015.

The six faces were inspired by people Rica had met in the past year or so. The two faces wearing berets were inspired by the exhibition and documentary book "¡PRESENTE! THE YOUNG LORDS IN NEW YORK," about the Puerto Rican Young Lords, who were active in the civil rights movement in the 1970s.
